Partis de chez Jay près du Lac Isabella, nous nous sommes donc dirigés en direction de la Sequoia National Forest où nous avons pu voir nos premiers spécimens de ces arbres qui peuvent avoir jusqu'à 95m de hauteur, 17m de diamètre et 3500 ans !!! Ce sont les plus vieux arbres du monde et ils ne poussent qu'en Californie ... Nous en verrons d'autres dans le King's Canyon, le National Park et dans Yosemite nos prochaines destinations.
July 18th
After leaving Jay's near Lake Isabella, we headed towards the Sequoia National Forest where we could see our first specimens of Sequoia trees which can reach as high as 95m, as wide as 17m in diametre and as old as 3,500 years... We'll see more in the King's canyon, the Sequoia National Park and Yosemite our next destinations.
Nous voulions camper mais finalement nous avons craqué pour le motel de Pierpoint Springs à côté de camp Nelson avec ses 173 habitants ! Le motel était sympa et nous avions l'impression d'être dans les années cinquante ! Il y avait des dizaines d'oiseaux mouches qui venaient boire de l'eau sucrée dans des distributeurs en plastique coloré ...We wanted to camp but finally stayed at the Pierpoint Springs Resort near Camp Nelson and its 173 inhabitants. The motel was nice and we had the feeling to be back in the fifties ... There were dozens of hummingbirds sipping sweetened water from brightly coloured plastic dispensers ...
